Films are open to kids, families, and adults of all ages.

The Sandlot

During one unforgettable summer in the early 1960s, a shy new kid moves to town and is taken in by a group of neighborhood boys whose lives revolve around baseball, bikes, and an empty sandlot. As friendships form and confidence grows, the kids face rites of passage both small and legendary—most notably a daring plan to retrieve a lost baseball from the yard of a terrifying (and misunderstood) neighbor dog known as “The Beast.” The Sandlot is a nostalgic, laugh-out-loud celebration of childhood, friendship, and the fleeting magic of summer.

Like You Guidance:

We recommend this film for ages 8+. All ages are welcome to attend; it’s up to you to decide what’s right for your family. We provide the following commentary to help inform you about what to expect from the film. See more guidance on the event page or read the Common Sense review.

The Sandlot is a high-energy, kid-centered comedy that reflects the attitudes and language of its time. While it includes some crude humor and mild misbehavior, the heart of the film strongly emphasizes belonging, loyalty, and growing into yourself with the help of friends.

Positive Messages:

  • Friendship & belonging. Being accepted by peers can change how kids see themselves.
  • Confidence & perseverance. Trying, failing, and trying again is part of growing up.
  • Teamwork & loyalty. The group succeeds when they support one another.
  • Nostalgia for unstructured play. Celebrates imagination, outdoor play, and community.

The event is finished.
