Step into the spirit of the season with Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity — a soul-stirring holiday musical that fuses gospel, dance, and poetry into a powerful celebration of faith, resilience, and Black joy.
Presented by the Access Unity and Development Collective (AUD), this year’s production is co-directed by Cleavon Meabon, IV (Executive Producer) and Justin Allen Tate, with musical direction by Dr. Ashley K. Davis and choreography by Emma Crystal.
Set inside the historic sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Memphis, Black Nativity reimagines the birth of Christ through the rhythms, harmonies, and hope of the Black experience — filling the space with soaring voices, vibrant movement, and contagious energy.
