The Artist Talk: Being and Building Beloved Community

In This Place Season is Historic Clayborn Temple’s curated series of events that runs from Feb 12-April 16, honoring the foundations of the Sanitation Workers Strike of 1968, consisting of public, in person and virtual storytelling events each month of the historic strike. Expressed through many artistic mediums, this is placemaking and storytelling that impacts human conditions, connecting the legacy of our historic building to our future history.

On Tuesday, April 16, join us at Evergreen Presbyterian Church for The Artist Talk. This event celebrates the transformation of Historic Clayborn Temple through the stunning reimagining of its monumental stained glass windows. We’ll have a community conversation featuring Lonnie Robinson, one of the visionary artists behind the windows, and the families of the people who inspired the designs. After hearing these awe-inspiring stories, we hope you explore and lift up the story of your own family and community.

Doors open at 5:30. The talk will begin following a moment of silence at 6:01 p.m.

Free and open to the public. All are welcome. RSVPs are encouraged at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/being-and-building-beloved-community-in-this-place-2024-tickets-820515302357.
