Spillit: Baggage Claim
Join New Memphis and Spillit for a Center Stage event – an evening of stories from students and educators that speak to the theme, “Baggage Claim.” What journeys have brought teachers to where they are now? Which experiences have shaped their perspectives? What are people reclaiming in the stories of their lives?
New Memphis will also announce our 2023 Educators of Excellence award winners.
This free event is open to all community members – you do not need to be an educator to attend! Light refreshments and drinks will be provided. We hope you come celebrate the start of a new school year with us by listening to these powerful stories.
Storytellers include:
- Alyssa Gregory-Violi, ESL teacher at Bluff City High School
- Amelia Kimbro, 3rd grade teacher science and social studies teacher at Berclair Elementary
- Danny Song, Founder and Executive Director at Believe Memphis Academy
- John Kusmec, 11th grade geometry teacher at Crosstown High
- Julien McGhee, 3rd grade teacher at Perea Elementary
- Bridget Sisney, Senior Manager of Leadership Programs at New Memphis
