Songwriters: Schaefer Llana and Julianne Ankley

About Julianne:
Julianne Ankley’s soulful blue country, americana style hails from a small Michigan border town close to the shore of Lake Huron and within earshot of the musical influences of Detroit.
With fourteen Detroit Music Awards, including the 2022 award for Outstanding Country Artist/Group, and “Special Honoree” for the 2022 Outstanding Country Vocalist, Julianne has been writing heartfelt songs and delivering electric performances, both solo and with her top notch band The Rogues, for years.
Julianne’s latest album “With Love From Lake Huron” was the recipient of the 2021 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Country Recording, and the single release “Why” won the 2020 award of the same name.
About Schaefer:
Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, at age ten Schaefer Llana moved to the tiny town of Batesville, Mississippi after her parents divorced. She grew up singing in school plays and at church, the home stereo split equally between her mother’s love of pop and her older sister’s emo and punk music.
Schaefer began writing songs on the piano in eighth grade, switching to the guitar her senior year in high school. She moved to Cleveland, Mississippi for college, where she cut her teeth in the fertile DIY house show scene.
In addition to her solo shows, Schaefer has of late joined up with Jimbo Mathus and his band and that’s where we first met her at South Main Sounds. She is currently opening for Mathus’ band “Squirrel Nut Zippers”.
