Park(ing) Day on Madison Avenue

Come to Madison Avenue in front of Cash Saver, 3-7pm, September 16th for International Park(ing) Day.

Park(ing) Day is a global, public, participatory art project. It is a day where people across the world temporarily repurpose street parking spaces and convert them to tiny parks and places for art, play, and activism.

Groups will set up creative spaces to inspire the public to think about how parking spaces could be utilized differently.

We will be sharing information about our Madison Avenue Midtown Improvement project. We held a kickoff project on Avalon just South of Madison and we plan to plant a dozen trees in the sidewalk on the East side of Cash Saver parking lot on Angelus. We would also like to convert the parking lanes on Madison between Avalon and Angelus to no parking and add street trees. This ties in with our “Shade is Cool” campaign that is focused on planting more trees in midtown. Especially in tree deserts, where people live and visit that are subject to extreme heat.

The event is finished.
