Moving Memphis: Knowledge is Power. Health is Wealth. MLK Day of Service
January 1, 2024 – Memphis, TN – In partnership with the Ric Nuber YMCA, the Memphis Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. will hold its annual MLK Day of Service event on January 13, 2024, from 12 – 2 pm at the Ric Nuber YMCA, located at 5885 Quince Road in Memphis.
This year’s Day of Service gives powerful knowledge of physical and mental health that can help position our communities to move Memphis forward. This free community event includes fitness sessions, diet tips, screenings, workshops, children’s activities and more.
“Getting more active and eating better can enhance our lives and help us operate at our very best,” said Chapter President, Dr. Chii Onyeagocha. “Our Day of Service is focused on moving Memphis forward, by helping our community gain critical knowledge around one of our biggest assets: our health.”
The event will feature healthcare speakers from Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, which recently launched Healthier 901 powered by MLH. Aiming to help lower the risk for serious conditions like cancer and heart disease, Healthier 901 challenges the entire Mid-South to lose one million pounds over three years. Participants can join by downloading the free Healthier 901 app on their smartphone.
Guests can also participate in a variety of fun workouts for home or the office with fitness experts from the YMCA including Zumba, chair yoga and much more. The area’s best trainers will be on hand to provide workout tips to help everyone keep their new year’s resolutions.
