Tanja is a cultural connector. She knows how to organize a community around critical and impactful issues. Through her work with major developers and by being a leader in the community, she knows how to connect developments to the community in an authentic and genuine way.
Through employment with City of Memphis Housing and Community Development and Cooper Young Community Development Corporation, Tanja found her niche in community development and engagement. A field trip to the Uptown Hope VI redevelopment site lead her to a position with the developer and a community that she proudly calls home. Tanja has served on several boards including the Downtown Memphis Commission (CCDC) Grow Memphis, Uptown Community Association and the Memphis Depot Redevelopment Agency.
In 2018, Tanja was presented with a Downtown Vision Award for her service to the Downtown Community. She currently serves on boards that reflect her passion: Memphis River Park Partnership, Blight Authority of Memphis, Explore Bike Share, Overton Park Shell, and A Step Ahead Foundation were she served as the board chair. Tanja is passionate about people and places and believes that every citizen deserves to live and play in communities that are safe, decent and satisfying. With nearly twenty years of experience in community development, Tanja is highly respected for her expertise in community building and relations.
