Justice in Balance: The Courts, Civil Rights, and Our Democracy

The National Civil Rights Museum and Keep Our Republic are partnering to host a community-focused convening to explore the judiciary’s integral role during the Civil Rights Movement, the courts’ recent efforts to pursue racial justice, and the growing threat to judges and the independent judiciary. The program will feature a moderated panel discussion with retired federal district and circuit court judges, offering regional and national perspectives. This critical community conversation examines the judiciary’s role during the Civil Rights Movement and today. This panel discussion will explore how courts have pursued racial justice and address current threats to judicial independence. Part of a national series, this program offers both regional and national perspectives on the vital connection between an independent judiciary and our democracy.
