Juneteenth: A Celebration of Black Freedom
Live music on the lawn of the Pink Palace Mansion
We invite you to join us on Juneteenth for an evening of live music on the lawn of the Pink Palace Mansion. The Museum of Science & History will celebrate Juneteenth with a 2-hour outdoor concert from the African Jazz Ensemble, led by Ekpe Abito. The 10-piece band, composed of some of Memphis’ finest musicians, has been playing together for over 40 years, creating music that incorporates African influences into more traditional jazz, soul, and R&B. Seating will be provided, however guests are free to bring lawn chairs and blankets. There will be finger foods and refreshments on the mansion porch, as well as a cash bar. We are thrilled to come together with the Memphis community to honor Black freedom from slavery through the African Jazz Ensemble’s positive vibrations.
