JDRF Promise Gala

WHAT:

Memphis locals are coming together for the 22nd Annual JDRF Promise Gala. The gala will include this year’s Fund A Cure Champion for the West Tennessee Promise Gala, Ann Atkinson Schnuerer. Schnuerer has spent two thirds of her life managing Type 1, and she will provide her personal testimony about what it means to live with this chronic disease.

This year’s black-tie event is extra special because it’s the first in–person Promise Gala since 2019, and will be taking place across three different gala events in Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis. The Tennessee chapter has set a combined record fundraising goal of $2 million.

WHY:

Approximately, 50,000 Tennesseans are living with Type 1 diabetes. With a goal of raising $2 million at this year’s gala events, the JDRF Tennessee Chapter is determined to make strides in Type 1 diabetes research, prevention and finding a cure.

In recent years, JDRF has led projects like the development of artificial pancreas systems, as well as the development of a drug to delay the onset of T1D, a model to help predict which children will develop T1D during the first 10 years of life and a potential first-in-class disease-modifying therapy.

ABOUT JDRF

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is improving lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested more than $2.5 billion in research funding since our inception. We are an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities, collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact, and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. We are dedicated to advocacy, community engagement and our vision of a world without T1D.
