Jazz in the Box: Denise Thimes Trio

Over the course of a multifaceted career spanning nearly three decades, Denise Thimes has truly been one of the most cherished voices of modern jazz. Described as the perfect mix of “Nancy, Sassy, and Lady Day” by the late legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry, Thimes has performed with such notables as David Sanborn, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Dr. Billy Taylor, Earl May, Penny Powell, and many more. In 2015, she was hand-picked by the Queen of Soul herself to perform at Aretha Franklin’s 72nd birthday celebration.
