If Beale Street Could Talk – Free Screening in Honor of Juneteenth

In partnership with Dr. Telisa Franklin and Memphis Juneteenth, the Orpheum Theatre Group is proud to host a special screening of Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, featuring a live prescreening performance by Singa B in honor of Juneteenth. The Balcony Project exhibit located on the Beale Street side of the theatre will also be open from 3 PM to 6:30 PM before the film.

Based on the novel by James Baldwin, If Beale Street Could Talk is the story of Tish, a newly engaged Harlem woman who races against the clock to prove her lover’s innocence while carrying their first born child to term.

It is a celebration of love told through the story of a young couple, their families and their lives, trying to bring about justice through love, for love and the promise of the American dream.

Written & directed by Barry Jenkins. Based on the novel by James Baldwin. Starring Kiki Layne, Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Michael Beach, Diego Luna, Dave Franco, Pedro Pascal, Regina King, Ed Skrein, Brian Tyree Henry
