Homeschool Day – Celebrating Black History Month Through Printmaking

Join us for an engaging Homeschool Day at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art! In honor of Black History Month, we’ll explore the powerful legacy of Elizabeth Catlett, a renowned printmaker and sculptor celebrated for her depictions of African American life and culture.

Students will learn the basics of printmaking using accessible materials like styrofoam, brayers, and ink. This hands-on activity encourages creativity and introduces young artists to the artistic techniques that made Catlett’s work so impactful.

Drop in any time during the session to experiment with printmaking and create your own vibrant prints inspired by the themes of empowerment and identity. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your imagination and a willingness to explore!

Docent Tours at 10:30a and 11:15a.

Drop-in art making activities 10a-1p.
