Historic Clayborn Temple’s Walk With Amal

Historic Clayborn TempleThe Orpheum Theatre Group and The Memphis Riverparks Partnership are thrilled to welcome Little Amal to a Culture of Love in Memphis. Little Amal, the internationally celebrated 12-foot-tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl, will be arriving in Memphis on Oct. 4 as part of her epic 6,000-mile journey across the United States this fall. Amal will be joined by “Memphis Girl,” an 8-foot-tall puppet created by Jeghetto.
We invite all families to meet Amal, learn about Historic Clayborn Temple, the 1968 Sanitation Workers Strike and more from our partner organizations along the walk. Join us at these stops:
  • Stop #1: Historic Clayborn Temple – Amal will meet Memphis children and walk around the I Am A Man Plaza.
  • Stop #2: The Orpheum Theatre – Students from the Refugee Empowerment Program will welcome her with personal messages.
  • Stop #3: Tom Lee Park – Amal will receive a gift from her new Memphis community before she departs to continue along her journey.
Amal Walks Across America is produced by The Walk Productions in association with Handspring Puppet Company of South Africa. This event is made possible by support from The Hyde Family Foundation, ArtsMemphis, TN Arts Commission and The Jack Robinson Gallery.

The event is finished.
