EVICTED
EVICTED opens to the public at the Benjamin L Hooks Central Library on December 3. The traveling museum exhibit from the National Building Museum is an immersive experience bringing visitors into the world of low-income renter evictions, and the impact eviction has on families and the community. The exhibit is inspired by Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, a 2016 book by Matthew Desmond. In addition to the nationwide eviction problem, it will look into the housing crisis in Memphis, which includes local programming and resources for those in need of assistance. The Evicted exhibit runs until January 21, 2023. The event is open during regular Memphis Public Library business hours.
