Join us for a night of deep grooves, soulful melodies, and Memphis magic as Joe Restivo celebrates the release of his highly anticipated second album as a leader “A Beautiful Friendship”.
Recorded at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording Studio and engineered by the incomparable Scott Bomar, the album features a dream lineup of Memphis heavyweights—organist Charlie Wood and drummer Renardo Ward, who held down the iconic organ trio gig at King’s Palace on Beale Street in the late ’90s. Inspired by the late, great Calvin Newborn, this reunion brings that classic rhythm section back together, with Wood flying in from the UK to help make it happen.
For this special one-night-only event, Restivo also welcomes Chris Hazelton—one of Kansas City’s top Hammond B-3 organists and current member of UK soul sensation James Hunter’s band—to add his signature flair. The lineup is rounded out by two of Memphis’s finest: saxophonist Kirk Smothers (tenor and baritone) and percussionist Felix Hernandez, both of whom are also featured on the record.
