Crosstown Arts presents Eighth Black Bird

Eighth Blackbird is a chamber music ensemble that is really more of a “band” that happens to play instruments that you’d see in an orchestra – violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano, and percussion (a giant percussion setup!!). They’ve been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts (here), won 4 GRAMMY awards, been the recipient of a MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, Chamber Music America’s inaugural Visionary Award and Musical America’s 2017 Ensemble of the Year. Eighth Blackbird has also worked with artists such as Philip Glass, Bryce Dessner, Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry, Nico Muhly, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, and My Brightest Diamond, among many many others.
