Company d Dancers Performing LOCAL: Art Moves at Hutchison Wiener Theater
Company d, consisting of a group of dancers with Down syndrome from the greater Memphis area, will present its performance LOCAL: Art Moves at the Weiner Theater inside Hutchison School, March 23 and 24th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
Company d is a nationally recognized dance company, under the artistic direction of Darlene Winters. Hutchison School has been a community partner for many years.
The Non-Profit organization, created 21 years ago, is committed to inspire, empower and teach individuals with Down syndrome who have an inherent aptitude for the performing arts. The ensemble is celebrated for their musicality, inspirational impact, and unique ability to alter the perception of individuals with disabilities “one step at a time”.
The show is inspired by the vibrant urban art and murals that are such an important part of the Memphis community. Guest choreographers Noelia Garcia Carmona, Patty Carreras, Wayne Smith, Steven Prince Tate and Yosek Prieto will bring their creativity and unique perspectives and style to the show, ensuring that it will be a truly one-of-a-kind event. Featured artists are Kong Wee Pang & Jay Crum, Juan Rojo, and various works commissioned by Urban Arts Commission and Paint Memphis.
