City Nature Challenge 2022: Greater Memphis Metro Area
Join us, April 29 – May 2, 2022, to represent the Greater Memphis Metropolitan Area in its debut in the 2022 City Nature Challenge (CNC)! We will document, identify, celebrate, and share the rich biodiversity of our metro area’s wild inhabitants with each other and with over 400 cities across the globe in a collaborative and friendly competition as citizen scientists.
Let’s show the world–and share with each other–the diversity of life that makes this community so special! In doing so, we will create data and connections. With these, we can better study, support, appreciate, and protect all life in our metropolitan area and beyond.
Are you ready to join the fun? Anyone can! Simply snap a photo, record a sound, or capture a video of wildlife you encounter in the Greater Memphis Metro Area April 29 – May 2, 2022. Upload your observation to the project platform, iNaturalist, using the free app or on the website iNaturalist.org, and it will automatically be added to this project.
Between May 3 – 8, 2022, we’ll work together to identify as many of our observations as possible.
Results for the CNC will be shared May 9, 2022. Which area will make the most observations, find the most species, and engage the most people?
City Nature Challenge is organized by the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. You can read more about it here: https://citynaturechallenge.org/.
