Chatterbox: Second Sunday New Works Series

Please join the writers from Voices of the South’s Writers Workshop at TheatreSouth.  As part of our Second Sunday New Works Series, we are featuring Sarah Ellin Siegel’s new play. As an androgynous Jewish lesbian of a certain age, Deena struggles with her identity. Her imminent, total hysterectomy only makes her wonder further who she will be post-surgery. Can a combination of Rocky Road ice cream, a nonbinary recent college grad named Ayllu, and Deena’s opinionated uterus help Deena resolve her identity crisis? Deena’s wife, Rachel, plays a key role—but when will God show up?

Chatterbox is in development with Voices of the South’s Writers’ Workshop.  This diverse group has been writing in tandem every Monday night since May 2020. Consisting of Chicago, Memphis, rural Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, and New York City-based playwrights, poets, and novelists, the group gives one another feedback on short writing sections when we meet.

Come and be part of the writing process and share your feedback with the playwright.

The event is finished.
