BIPOC Memphis Matters

BIPOC Memphis Matters brings together a community of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Memphians at Collage Dance Collective for a special performance hosted by Playback Memphis.

There is something magical that happens when people of color caucus together. There is a letting down of hair, a comfort, a being yourself that you know when you feel it. There’s no one to expect you to be “over it” by now or wonder why you’re still talking about it, sad about it or mad about it. You are understood. Our sayings, language, imprint in history, connection to our ancestors and land, and deep legacy of spirituality are all present.

And amongst the many cultures represented in the BIPOC community, there is a shared trauma that plays out differently all over the planet. But there is also a rich resilience. For our second year, Playback Memphis is living into its’ mission by opening a space that centers BIPOC voices where we can share stories in a safe space to unlock healing transformation and joy.

If you are BIPOC please join us for this rare and beautiful occasion.

The event is finished.
