An Evening with Matt Wagner and Gene Ha
Memphis Public Libraries’ Comic Con this year brings esteemed comic book author Matt Wagner and illustrator Gene Ha to Memphis. The Memphis Library Foundation invites you the night for a special fundraiser event to meet these creators. Join us for our second installment of the year of “An Evening with”! All proceeds support programming and resources at all Memphis Public Libraries’ branches. Admission includes two drink tickets and food.
Matt Wagner has enjoyed a career in comics for almost forty years and is best known for Grendel and his other, more personal allegory Mage. Matt has also worked on an array of established characters over the years, including several landmark projects starring DC Comics icon Batman and two crossover series with Grendel. His mainstream work includes Sandman Mystery Theater; Dr. Mid-Nite; Green Arrow; Trinity, Madame Xanadu; Zorro; Green Hornet; Year One, The Shadow; The Spirit Returns; and Django/Zorro, which he co-wrote with renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. Matt has also begun an ambitious series of graphic novels about DRACULA, writing for artist Kelley Jones.
Gene Ha made his name with his stunning artwork on Alan Moore’s Top 10 and his stunning recent turn on Wonder Woman: Historia. Gene’s work has also been showcased in Starman, Superman, and many more titles. He is also an artist and writer, debuting his own creation in the book Mae.
