A mural on a blue wall depicts Tom Lee’s heroic act: a man in a canoe reaching out to another person in the water. Two columns with red bows and string lights frame the scene. A sign reads “Tom Lee House,” honoring his legacy near its 100 year anniversary.

100 Year Anniversary of Tom Lee’s Heroic Act

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tom Lee’s heroic act. Also bring awareness to the history of the community/KSCCDC and the future developments in the neighborhood led by KSCCDC.

We will also open up our popup community museum that will display a detailed history of the first community incorporated in the city of Memphis for Black people where Tom Lee lived.

In addition, we will have entertainment that includes singers, Memphis Symphony, New Ballet Ensemble, etc. We will also announce being awarded the historic designation of Tom Lee’s house.
