Lafayette’s Music Room in Overton Square is a great spot to enjoy brunch and some live music on the weekend. They offer a large brunch menu every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm and their live music schedule is always posted on their website.
First, let’s talk about their build-your-own Bloody Mary Bar.
I am not a big Bloody Mary drinker, but this brunch bar allows you to build the drink to taste, adding spices, seasonings, vegetables, etc to taste. I made one that was less on the spicy side and it was great! I also enjoyed their fabulous mimosa, of course.
One of my favorite brunch items on the menu was their Elvis French Toast. This is a different spin on their Classic French Toast (also on the menu) with banana bread, peanut butter caramel, bananas, maple syrup, and roasted pecans. Sugar coma? Yes please. This is a huge portion and so you will want to split this with everyone!
I’m always looking for some good beignets so I was very happy to see these on the brunch menu. They are covered in powdered sugar, light and fluffy, just the way I like them.
A Memphis favorite, the chicken and waffles at Lafayette’s is definately now on my list of favorites. Fried chicken tenders, homemade cheddar waffle, hot sauce honey, and chow chow complete this dish. You could easily split this meal as well. The chicken is perfectly fried and seasoned with fluffy waffles and Lafayette’s signature honey and chow chow for adding on top. The chicken and waffles is also offered on their regular menu if you are looking for a breakfast food option during the week.
On the brunch menu you can also enjoy shrimp and grits, breakfast pizza (also available on their regular menu), some veggies options, sandwiches, and more.
Go check it out for yourself this weekend at 2119 Madison Avenue from 11am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday for Brunch, regular menu from 3pm-2am Saturday, 3pm-1am Sunday, 11am-2am Friday, and 11am-1am Monday-Thursday.
