Retailers, makers, and entrepreneurs can now apply for commercial space at Edge Alley, a new project just announced by the Memphis Medical District Collaborative.
Edge Alley is an exciting new retail concept coming to the Edge neighborhood in June 2017. Housed at 600 Monroe Avenue (adjacent to High Cotton Brewery), the project is seeking up to four businesses for retail bays that are approximately 225 sq. feet. Edge Alley will also include a café, coffee roaster, plenty of seating for visitors, and a community space. Edge Alley will give both customers and makers a place to share resources, ideas, and of course, a great cup of coffee.
Currently the Edge neighborhood and Memphis Medical District lack the retail amenities and services to meet the demands of the more than 30,000 annual employees, residents, visitors and students in the area. As part of an effort to support more Memphis-based and diverse businesses, the Memphis Medical District Collaborative and Edge Alley, LLC. have partnered together to launch a competition to encourage Memphis-based makers, entrepreneurs, retailers and existing businesses to apply to be a part of Edge Alley.
Edge Alley is the first concept of this kind to come to Memphis. The advantage is a micro-retail concept that provides retailers with the opportunity to co-locate their business with other tenants in order to share the benefits of marketing, promotions, and foot-traffic; while at the same time sharing the risks associated with leasing and maintaining a property.
The business competition winning package includes:
- Financial assistance: up to $2,500 to assist with start-up costs including build-out; signage; moving costs; and rent.
- Technical assistance: a team of professionals to help with strategies to sustain and grow your business.
- Marketing and promotions support from the Memphis Medical District Collaborative.
