Dr. Telisa Franklin Brings Her Memphis Spirit Back to “A Taste of Memphis”

This will be the second year in a row that media personality Dr. Telisa Franklin hosts A Taste of Memphis, a platform she sees as the perfect way to spread her trademark  positivity.

Many know her from her uplifting presence on local radio and TV, while others recognize  her simply as the “billboards lady.” But one thing is certain—Dr. Franklin is a true Memphis  enthusiast.

“I love God and I love His people, so I am going to use my voice to keep igniting Memphis’ fire,” she says with a smile.

Her connection to A Taste of Memphis began through her community work.

“So many organizations are doing good work out there, and an event like this not only allows them to share their mission with Memphians, but also to network with each other. If we don’t want to keep working in silos, these are the types of events we need to be a part of.”

So, when event founder Miss Joyce Cox asked her to serve as hostess, Franklin didn’t  hesitate.

“You just can’t say no to Miss Cox, right?” she laughs.

Looking back at her first year, Franklin recalls the excitement she felt.

“I had such a great experience—bringing all of that Memphis energy to the stage, seeing the booths compete in a positive way, watching people show pride in their work and their communities, and celebrating the many cultures that make our city unique.”

As she prepares to return this year, Franklin sees A Taste of Memphis as a reflection of the city’s heartbeat. From the food and music to the people and  the stories behind every booth, she believes it’s a chance to showcase what makes  Memphis truly special.

“When you leave A Taste of Memphis, you don’t just leave full—you leave inspired,” she says.

And with Franklin at the mic, the celebration is sure to be filled with joy, pride, and plenty of Memphis soul.
