Dining Card Dash: Lisa’s Lunchbox

This post is a part of a series of blogs we’ll be writing in partnership with City Dining Cards. Read about it here.

Upon entering Lisa’s Lunchbox, you’ll see the smiling faces of the employees as they welcome you into the quaint restaurant right off Poplar and White Station in East Memphis. There are a few tables and chairs outside and a small handful inside as well, each adorned with a fun little lunchbox, ya know, because of the name of the place.

Having never been to Lisa’s Lunchbox before, my friend Alex and I stood there overwhelmed with the choices and bright colors. We probably looked overwhelmed too as one of the friendly girls working asked us if we had been there before. She was quick to recommend their popular dishes and even give us a sample of the Kickin’ Chicken Spaghetti, which was the special of the day. I liked the sample so much that I got the Kickin’ Chicken Spaghetti as a frozen entree to take home and cook for later! They have a freezer fully stocked with a variety of options. This is an especially good choice with the City Dining Card so you reach the $30 minimum required for the deal.

Alex ordered a smoothie called Monkey Business and she throughly enjoyed it. I only had one sip, but I approved that one sip.

I ordered the Chicken Club Panini with pasta salad and Alex ordered the Turkey Club Panini with potato salad. On the menu it claims that the ranch is “the best ranch dressing you have ever tasted” and Alex and I would have to agree it was exceptionally delicious. The ingredients aren’t crazy or exotic and the paninis we ordered are pretty basic sandwiches, so we were pleasantly surprised at how tasty and fresh everything was! The pasta salad and potato salad were light and fresh, a great side to the sandwiches.

For dessert, I got a strawberry chess pie to go. I’m eating it now as I type this blog post. I had never had “chess pie” until I moved south to Memphis. But I love it and this one in particular was fresh and sweet and perfect and I want another one.

Alex and I will be going back for sure, maybe we’ll see you there.
