UPDATE: It looks like Cozy Corner has found a new home until the repairs can be done. The best part is the temporary location is very close to the restaurant.
Hello everyone! Cozy Corner BBQ will be opening temporarily inside Encore Café on Tuesday, March 17th. The address is 726 N. Parkway, right across the street from our original location.
You can get all the details from the Facebook post.
Recently Cozy Corner caught on fire and had to be closed down, and Memphis Twitter was heartbroken.

There’s a fire at Cozy Corner? EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GRAB A HOSE! — Ed Arnold (@MBJArnold) January 8, 2015
Action News 5 reported that the fire started just before 1:30 p.m and took fire crews about 30 minutes to put it out. They also reported that the owners of the restaurant say the fire was caused by electrical issues, and it could be weeks before they can reopen. The Commercial Appeal reported that the estimated damage is $60,000.
Cozy Corner reported on Facebook that no one was hurt.
Now Memphians are doing what Memphians do best: helping their neighbors. A young professional in Memphis, Joey Thibeault, reached out to us and shared a Facebook event page to rally around Cozy Corner as they work to fix the damage. The event page says,
The beloved Memphis BBQ restaurant Cozy Corner on North Parkway sustained significant fire damage on January 8th, 2015. I’m sure I am not the only one who is deeply saddened by this news. Cozy Corner has been in operation since 1977 and has established itself as a Memphis BBQ gem. They have been spotlighted on “Diners Drive-ins and Dives” on The Food Network, and have slow smoked some of the best meat in Memphis for generations. Known for their BBQ Cornish game hen along with other classics like the BBQ bologna, and of course, their ribs, Cozy Corner has been feeding our families great food for generations.
Please support the Cozy Corner restaurant when they reopen theirr doors! What better way to start the new year than to reinvigorate one of Memphis’ famous land marks? This city has taught me that good neighbors help a friend in need. It’s not just a nice thing to do, it’s the Memphis thing to do. Date of reopening is TBD.
Update: Cozy Corner will be reopening across the street from their original location.
We want to show Cozy Corner just how much Memphis loves them. Let’s all go grab a meal when they open!
