You’re invited to join the Cooper Young Business Association for the kickoff party and poster unveiling for the 2016 Cooper Young Festival. The unveiling will take place at CoWork Memphis on August 4th from 6 pm – 8 pm.
A visual history of the past 28 years will be on display while you enjoy live music, refreshments by Alchemy, and a beer bar donated by A. S. Barboro. The band J.M.C will bring a mixture of oldies, vocals, percussion, and electric guitar.
The kickoff event is bringing renowned coloring book author Jenean Morrison, who designed the 2016 Cooper Young Festival poster. She will talk about the process she went through to imagine, design, and create her original poster idea.
Her coloring books for adults are internationally renowned and are on the Amazon Best-Seller lists in both the US and Italy. She currently has over a million copies of her coloring books being sold across North America (including Booksellers at Laurelwood, Five in One Social Club, and Burke’s Books).
Jenean was also 1 of 16 artists who participated in the”Make It on Mobile” summit, a 2-day immersive experience in creativity on mobile devices held at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York.
“Jenean works from her studio here in Cooper-Young, creating fresh, imaginative artwork, fabric designs, and coloring books which enjoy an international audience. Interestingly, she has chosen the iconic gazebo at the corner of Cooper and Young as her subject for this year’s poster, employing the latest digital technology along with her manual skills and an unusual palette to produce a vibrant image which captures the excitement of the annual event.” – Stephen Crump, Festival Committee member and Cooper Young Business Association Vice-President
This year’s poster showcases what makes Cooper Young special. You will get a white poster so you can join the fun and color your own Cooper Young Festival poster at home. The first 100 guests will get free color posters as well.
