When Kimberly Bailey sat on a panel about women and justice in January 2016, she was inspired to take a closer look at how children learn about civil rights leaders. She thought about how much her 3 year old nephew had already learned about black history through a program at his daycare, and decided to create a coloring book to help kids have fun while learning about history and leadership. Kimberly now has 2 books in her Color and Read series: Civil Rights Leading Ladies and Civil Rights Mighty Men.

She has used the books to lead coloring parties at several libraries, schools and churches, and she also recently debuted Color and Relax, a coloring-for-a-cause fundraising event for adults.

If you want to meet the author and grab a coloring book, Kimberly will be doing a book signing on February 25th at Knowledge Tree in Germantown. Then you can join her that evening at her next Color and Relax event.
