Cloud 901 has quickly become a creative safe-haven for local teens, while providing them with resources to learn a variety of technical skills in a state-of-the-art facility.
Cloud 901 is more than a teen learning lab. Upon walking into Memphis Library’s state-of-the-art facility, you’ll find that it’s a multi-dimensional creative experience for the hundreds of local teens who have become regulars since it opened its doors in 2015. Now in its third year, the creative space offers more than a dozen learning labs ranging from music production to photography, making the public library more appealing to the youth.
“Over the years, fewer teens were attending public libraries. Cloud 901 is Memphis Library’s answer to this problem, while providing teens with the technical skills they need to compete in the 21st century.”
-Jessica Chaney, Cloud 901 Manager
The 8,300 square foot lab is spread between two floors in the Benjamin L. Hooks central library on Poplar. Teens are able to utilize a bevy of tech equipment to produce movies, games, and music. Additionally the facility has a homework zone and a “Dreamcatcher” space, where teens can relax and enjoy the constellations.

Opening at 3 PM every day during the week except Friday, Cloud 901 has become the premiere after school center for students across the city; but the learning doesn’t end with the school year. Students can still enjoy the lab during the summer. Currently the Cloud 901 team is gearing up for three summer camps focusing on music, art, and robotics; all set to start in July. Applications for the camp are open to all area teens.
The lab is also open for school tours and frequently hosts events to showcase student talent.
