Bass Pro is the biggest story making the rounds right now in Memphis. But we’re also learning about mayoral candidates, new development plans, and ways you can get involved.

1. Bass Pro Mania This Week

There a full schedule of events for the opening of the Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid. Among those events are many options for everyone to experience the new megastore. You can also see it live when we periscope from Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl on Tuesday. Check out this thoughtful piece from the Commercial Appeal about what happens after the grand opening.

2. Mayoral Candidate Forum at Tennessee Brewery


We’re used to seeing burritos, beer, music, and art at the Tennessee Brewery thanks to the Revival happening right now. But politics took center stage at the mayoral candidates forum. Kyle Veazey at the Commercial Appeal had a great summary of what happened here. You can get Bill Dries take at the Memphis Daily News and Jackson Baker from the Flyer.

4. Central Station, Trolley Plans, and  More

New plans for Central Station on South Main have been approved by the MATA board. Can read about exactly what the plans are from the Memphis Flyer. They are set to include a grocery store, movie theatre, boutique hotel, and improvements for transit service. There was also news this week about the return of the trolleys and short-term plans to help South Main.

5. Memphis Named in Report on Top Places for Women Entrepreneurs

Forbes is calling our number again. The financial magazine named Tennessee the new up-and-coming place for women entrepreneurs. Among the examples for why, a Memphian by choice seeing success in the bluff city.
