Now is the Time. Memphis is the Place.

Carpenter Art Garden presents Christian Robinson 11/17-11/18

Illustrator and animator, Christian Robinson, will be visiting the Carpenter Art Garden November 17-18. It’s the perfect time for this super talented guest to visit the Mid-South because November is Picture Book Month. This celebrated artist has worked with the likes of Pixar and Sesame Street. The goal of the Carpenter Art Garden is to to transform a blighted lot into a place of beauty by teaming up with some of the children, adults and local artists of the Binghampton community.

The Carpenter Art Garden is inspired by LILY YEH, Founder of The Village of Arts and Humanities, Philadelphia, PA & The International Organization Barefoot Artists. She says,

…through art we transform the grittiness of everyday life into energy, beauty, joy, strength, to help us face the future. When community members participate in transforming their environment, the process often triggers other kinds of transformation, affecting the minds and hearts of individuals and the whole community.

They will be hosting an event at the Art Garden for neighbors and volunteers Meet and Greet on Tuesday, November 17th at Booksellers located at 387 Perkins Road Extended Memphis, TN 38117. Christian has a slew of award winning picture books including Josephine by Patricia Hruby Powell, which won a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award. It is sure to be a fun event that the kids or the inner kid in you will love!
