Caritas Village in Binghampton is Set to Reopen August 25th

After a year of planning and another for construction Caritas Village, located in the heart of Binghampton, is set to reopen later this month.

Latin for “love all people,” Caritas Village is a a community center in heart of the Binghampton neighborhood. Founded in 2006 by Onie Johns, the center was built to be a safe place for people to eat, meet, serve in the community, and share life. It has hosted countless events like social justice meetings, bible studies, festivals, art openings, and provided meals to those who can’t afford them. In 2016, fundraising began for important upgrades and renovations that would ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the center. Now, over a year later, the finishing touches are being put in place in time for Caritas to reopen August 25th. From noon to 4 pm, they are inviting the entire community back to visit the newly renovated Village.

“It’s amazing what a new coat of paint, new menu and some patience can do for an old building. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!” –  Founder, Onie Johns.
