Campbell Clinic Foundation Hosts 3rd Annual Orthopaedic Exploration Day

On Friday, November 7, Campbell Clinic Foundation hosted 100 students from Cordova,  Germantown, and White Station High Schools at its third annual Orthopaedic Exploration  Day. Students had the opportunity to learn firsthand from Campbell Clinic doctors and  physical therapists, UTHSC medical students, and medical industry representatives to discover the many opportunities and careers in orthopaedics.

Students practiced drilling saw bones with state-of-the-art equipment typically used  during real operative procedures on hips, knees, hands, and feet. Additionally, there were  robots that assist in surgeries, ultrasound machines used in clinics, and instruments to  evaluate strength and flexibility.

“I had no idea how many jobs and roles there were in orthopaedics,” said one student. “And it’s great to know there are many places for training and education right here in Memphis.”

“This event happens because of our Campbell commitment to teaching and developing future orthopaedic healthcare professionals. You can see by looking around, it takes a big team to fix bones and joints, relieve pain and help patients return to play. We hope some of these students are inspired to join the orthopaedic team in the future!
