Bristerfest, a grassroots Memphis music and cultural festival, returns for the sixth year in a row with all proceeds benefiting GrowMemphis.
- When: October 8 from noon – 1 a.m.
- Cost: Free, but donations are encouraged
Thanks to a sponsorship from The Blue Monkey, the festival is free during the day. The party moves to Lafayette’s Music Room at 8 p.m., where ticket sales and donations will go towards GrowMemphis, an organization that builds and supports urban community gardens.
In the spirit of celebrating Memphis music, performers including DEVIL TRAIN, Ghost Town Blues Band, Zigadoo Moneyclips, The Incredible Hook, Faith Evans Ruch, School of Rock Germantown, Syrrup, and Nightingale will take the stage and showcase some of the 901’s premier talent. Vendors, makers, and artisans will have booths set up featuring various arts, crafts, jewelry, and more. If you are interested in being a vendor at Bristerfest, email email@example.com.
GrowMemphis works to help communities gain access to locally grown foods in an urban environment. Over $5,000 has been raised by Bristerfest since 2012 to help GrowMemphis continue to work on their goal. Recently, the organization was absorbed by Memphis Tilth, which shares a similar mission of creating an economically sustainable, socially equitable, and environmentally sound local food system.
