How a Local Bookstore is Serving Local Students

Using What You Do to Do Good: the South Main Book Juggler

The South Main Book Juggler is a downtown Memphis staple—a must-stop for any local book lover, downtown tourist, or Trolley Night attendee. But to co-owner Jean ‘the Book Juggler’ Andrus, the bookshop is more than just a store—it’s an opportunity to give back to the community she loves.

Most recently,  the Book Juggler showed her heart for Memphis by partnering with Give901 to provide over 300 books to a local elementary school!

Give901 partners with local companies and individuals to impact education for the better.

Earlier this week, the South Main Book Juggler stopped by Give901 partner school New Hope Academy to deliver over 300 books to eager elementary schoolers.

The students were so excited for their new books, each one with a personalized note from a local reader!

While delivering the books, store co-owner Jean shared a bit about the project with students, expressing her love for reading—inspiring a new generation of bookworms!

how did south Main Book Juggler Provide 300 books to a local school?

Approaching almost ten years of store ownership, Jean and Clayton decided it was about time to use the South Main Book Juggler to give back to Memphis. They would leverage their love for books, prime downtown location, and customers’ hearts for students to donate books to a local school.

South Main Book Juggler teamed up with Give901 and New Hope Academy to turn this vision into a reality—three month later, South Main Book Juggler arrived at New Hope with 300 books in tow.

Each book was donated by customers of the bookshop throughout the last several months. People visited the bookstore were able to purchase hand-selected books to donate to students. Each student received a book with a special note from the person who helped make the donation possible!
