Bone Fide Blues Festival will host 30+ artists in Overton Square on September 30th and October 1st.

After a huge turnout last year, the Square is excited to welcome more fans and tourists coming to indulge in regional artists. The event will feature three stages: one at the Blue Monkey (paid, indoor), another at Lafayette’s (paid, indoor), and a third at the Overton Square Tower Courtyard (free outdoor show). The event will also host a VIP party at Bar Louie on Thursday, September 29th.

The Bona Fide Blues Festival is a grassroots effort that celebrates regional blues musicians in their own backyard and builds local appreciation for the many talented artists that hail from the Mid-South. Our inaugural festival saw half of our audience of 4,000 come from outside the region and a quarter from overseas.  The excitement for this year’s festival knows no bounds. – John Gemmill, President of the Memphis Blues Society

As excitement grows, so too does engagement in the Memphis Blues Society. Over the last four years, the organization has grown from holding a membership of 30 to boasting over 400. The 501(c)3 promotes local blues artists and regular events and jam sessions on Beale Street. For example, every Sunday evening, Free World plays a free show in the side room of Blues City Cafe, offering locals and tourists an opportunity to taste Memphis blues music.
