Grizzlies Prep is hosting lunch-hour info sessions to get Memphis professionals involved in one of the easiest and most fun ways to make a difference in the lives of their students.
Grizzlies Prep is a charter school in the heart of downtown educating young men in grades six to eight. Within a rigorous and disciplined middle school, students become equipped for success in high school, college, and life.
The students at Grizzlies Prep are huge fans of the Lunch Buddies program that pairs them with local professionals. These middle school boys want to do well in school and need help to navigate life’s challenges. According to ACT scores, only 6% of Memphis boys are ready for college when they graduate. One 30 minute lunch a week could change the game for them.
The Lunch Buddies Program at Grizzlies Prep offers students the chance to attend a 30-minute lunch period once a week with a local professional who can help them build the skills and attitude they need to navigate life’s challenges and excel academically.
At the start of the school year, new students request a Lunch Buddy, and the waiting list begins! Right now, there are over 60 young men who hope to have a Lunch Buddy. That means we need more community members to sign up for the Lunch Buddies program—and that could be you!
