Be a Lunch Buddy at Compass Community School-Midtown

Could you really make a difference in just one lunch hour? Absolutely. Compass Community School-Midtown is hosting lunch-hour info sessions to get Memphis professionals involved in an easy and fun way to make a difference in the lives of their students.

Compass Community Schools is a newly formed group of K-12 charter schools proudly serving the following Memphis communities: Binghampton, Frayser, Berclair, Hickory Hill, Midtown, and Orange Mound. The Midtown location is launching the Lunch Buddies program with a goal of matching every ninth grader with a mentor.

Compass has three pillars for student success: academic excellence, values-based character education and service learning. Mentors can greatly influence all three. Pairing students with professionals can help them build the skills and confidence to navigate life’s challenges and excel academically.

The Lunch Buddies Program is favored among working professionals because it’s simple, flexible, and meaningful. Mentors commit to having a 30-minute lunch once a week with two students, and it can be any day of the week you choose.

There are 56 freshmen at Compass, which means we need 27 professionals to sign up for the Lunch Buddies program—and that could be you!

  • Are you available to have lunch at Compass, in Midtown Memphis, one day a week?
