Artists for ‘Memphis to the Mersey’ Songwriter Exchange Announced

Music Export Memphis has announced the four artists for the Memphis to the Mersey songwriter exchange.

Four artists have been chosen for the Memphis to the Mersey after much deliberation. There was an absolute fantastic response for this event, so congrats to those chosen. All artists have shown experience in the field of music and will undoubtedly deepen the connection established between Memphis and Liverpool. They will work in Memphis August 4th through the 6th and Liverpool August 26th through the 28th.

The artists:

  • Lanita Smith – Grew up in Memphis singing in her church. Since then, her love of music has only grown. She won Guitar Center’s Singer-Songwriter award and has worked with Colbie Caillat, Jessica Sanchez, German American Idol judge Mandy Capistro and Teddy Riley. She has an upcoming album set to release this summer, titled Remember Me. She supports young Memphis musicians through her Lanita Smith Music Foundation.
  • Chris Milam – Grew up in Memphis and has moved back here after some time in Nashville and New York City. He’s recorded projects at Ardent studios and Young Avenue sound. He released an album titled Kids These Days this spring.
  • Christopher Kearney – Founder and singer the band the Aeroplanes founded in 2004. Started a new project called Cold Shoulder in 2011. Currently lives in Liverpool and is working on new material.
  • Reid Anderson – Grew up in Liverpool influenced by Elvis, David Bowie, and The Velvet Underground among others. He been apart of the groups Stagger Lee, Revenge Tragedies and Theresa Stern over the years and is now working on solo material.
