At the Global Capital of Soul, the Soulsville campus is home to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and Stax Music Academy. Operated by the Soulsville Foundation, Stax invites the community to experience a month of free programming celebrating Black Music Month and the next generation of artists carrying the legacy forward.
From live studio performances to exhibitions and community events, each event offers a chance to experience soul music where it all began at Stax.
Stax Museum Presents: Live In Studio A

Enjoy live performances on select Tuesdays this June from the 926 Stax Music Academy Band as students bring the spirit of Stax Records to life inside the museum’s historic Studio A. Blues Power! Albert King Exhibit Opening Reception

This limited-time photo exhibition honors blues legend Albert King, highlighting his groundbreaking sound, signature left-handed guitar style, and lasting influence on blues, soul, and American music during and beyond his years at Stax Records.
Guests are invited to the opening reception to explore rare, never-before-seen archival photographs from the Stax Museum collection.
The evening also includes exclusive access to newly re-released Albert King vinyl, CDs, and a limited-edition T-shirt, along with a special listening session featuring a newly remastered vinyl release in the legendary Studio A.
This reception celebrates Albert King’s life and legacy through photography, sound, and a uniquely Stax experience.

Celebrate Black Music Month with an afternoon of live music, community, and hands-on fun for all ages. Featuring performances by Quéludes (Trap Jazz) in Studio A, along with food trucks, arts and crafts, games, and family-friendly activities throughout the museum.

The Summer Music Experience Finale Showcase marks the culmination of a four-week immersive program for young artists. Students showcase their growth in live performance, music business, choreography, songwriting, filmmaking, audio engineering, and more. This final performance celebrates the creativity, collaboration, and dedication students have developed throughout the summer as they take the stage at the iconic Overton Park Shell.
