MTR believes that educational inequality is one of the greatest social justice and Civil Rights issues in America today.
The MTR mission is to provide Christian love expressed through equal education and have a grand vision of seeing restored communities living with dignity and in peace.
We recruit, train, and support teachers as they step into the classroom to learn how to be effective educators within the city of Memphis. Be trained and licensed as a K-5 teacher, 6-12 teacher, or K-12 ESL teacher in just one year!
- A FREE Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) through Christian Brothers University
- A year-long internship in a veteran teacher’s classroom that helps you to practice and learn how to be an exceptional teacher
- FREE housing provided in the Parcels at Crosstown Concourse - just 4 floors up from your graduate school classrooms!
- An MTR-provided coach to guide, instruct and cheer you on during your residency & graduate yearsm
- Live, work and study with a group of mission-minded peers who will support you during the residency year
- Receive $1,000 monthly stipend ($12,000 total) to help with living expenses
- Have a guaranteed job placement post-residency for your three year teaching commitment in Memphis
