A night of Memphis music collabs at The Shell benefits Music Export Memphis

Music Export Memphis (MEM) is hosting its annual benefit, The Tambourine Bash, at the Overton Park Shell on October 16 and they’re bringing back some familiar faces as they mark their fifth year producing the event at the Shell.

Tambourine Bash is all about collaboration

MEM puts artists and bands in groups of three, working hard to pair musicians who’ve never collaborated before and to mix and match up genres and styles. The supersets perform together on the Shell stage, often premiering brand new music, resulting in a night that is truly one of a kind: you haven’t experienced these artists in this way before! Since moving to The Shell in 2021, they’ve also accomplished another pretty amazing feat in never repeating any of the artists or bands on the line-up.

That changes this year as MEM celebrates year five at The Shell

Every artist or band on this year’s line-up has graced the Shell stage for this special night before, but you’ll experience them in totally different collaborative sets. The line-up includes 2025 Ambassador Access cohort LaDarryl, Ozioma, and Keenya; plus sets by Ryan Peel, MadameFraankie, and Mak Ro; Cyrena Wages, Graham Winchester and Raneem Imam; Marcella Simien, Lucky 7 Brass Band, and Black Cream; and a repeat from the 2019 event, UNAPOLOGETIC. and Future-Everything. The finale, as always, will be a superjam of Memphis classics (to remain secret) performed by the entire line-up and produced to perfection by Royal Studios’ owner and GRAMMY winning producer/engineer, Boo Mitchell

This night supports the work of Music Export Memphis, specifically funding MEM’s Ambassador grants which provide unrestricted cash to Memphis touring bands.

“No Tambourine Bash is like the one before it, and we’re so excited to see what these veterans put together in their collaborations this year. This night is so special, and it’s an honor for us to be able to bring Memphis musicians together in this way to support the grants we fund – the money you spend on tickets, or at the event on merch or in the silent auction, all of it powers our Ambassador grants for the year ahead. In 2024, that helped us fund over 90 artists or bands and make it easier for them to do what they do better than anyone else – rep our city!”

Tickets start at just $25 for General Admission, or go VIP and enjoy dinner and drinks plus a make-your-own-swag-bag table for $125.
