The Levee Creamery (owned by the same people behind PYRO’s Pizzas and the new Wolf River Brisket, Co.) recognized the need for a local hangout spot, and decided to do something about it. Located at 2059 S. Houston Levee Road, Suite 116, the combination ice cream and coffee shop has something for everyone.
“The goal for this concept was to be a hangout spot for any time of the day: hence the coffee and ice cream focus,” explained Courtney Bond, a representative for the business. “With both co-owners living within walking distance, our space truly was designed with the community in mind–whether it be to grab a quick coffee before school, to study for midterms, or to grab a treat with your family at the end of the night.”
Opening every weekday at 6:30am, Levee’s full espresso bar is designed to serve up the perfect cup of coffee before school or work, and their menu easily adapts throughout the day to match your vibe. With freshly roasted French Truck Coffee and homemade baked goodies, the space is great for afternoon study dates and coffee meetings. For those with a sweet tooth, they’ve cooked up a whole selection of safe-to-eat, raw cookie dough.
Your new summer favorite, however, is going to be their fresh, homemade ice cream (PSA: they make their own waffle cones!). Made from scratch in small batches, the Levee ice creams are smooth, rich, and packed with flavor. Catch classic favorites, as well as local specialties such as Grizz Berry Cobbler, Grit-N-Grind Cafe, B.B. Kiwi, Mud Island, and Mustang Madness.
When I stopped in to visit, I found a sunny space with a great variety of seating, a fun and comfortable atmosphere, and a friendly and welcoming staff. Although it was a bit of a hike for me (coming from Midtown), I would absolutely consider it worth the drive!
Next time you’re in the mood to try something new, grab a couple of friends and head over to Levee Creamery!
