From blacksmithing to casting, the Metal Museum is offering mini workshops on January 9th for those are interested in learning more about metal. A Day of Tasters is a series of introductory classes in blacksmithing, welding, casting and copper soldering to allow you to test the waters.
- Blacksmithing (8:30am – 10am): Make a taper and/or a hook using a coal forge, anvil and hammer.
- MIG Welding (10:30am – 12pm): A demonstration and introduction to MIG welding. A small project can be completed in this 1.5 hour workshop.
- Casting (1:00pm – 2:30pm): A demonstration and introduction to mold making using both oil bonded and resin bonded sand. A resin bonded scratch block tile can be completed in this 2 hour workshop.
- Copper (3:00pm – 4:30pm): Solder a small copper box. This class is a great intro course for our Weathervane Class.
All workshops are catered towards beginners and anyone 15 and up can participate. The sessions are $50 each which includes a material fee. Sign up on their website or give them a call at 901-774-6380.
