Youth Villages 360 Career Development Program

Youth Villages is looking for Memphians and transplants alike who are graduating this spring and looking for an opportunity to invest and make an impact in our community. Our YV 360 program, an early career development program with Youth Villages, is a unique opportunity for emerging social service professionals to join and work alongside our committed team in the mental health field while learning a new position and maximizing clinical and leadership potential.

Youth Villages is a national non-profit mental health care provider based here in Memphis working to help youth and families across the country live successfully through a variety of residential treatment and community-based programs.

YV 360

As part of the YV 360 program, candidates selected will be offered a full-time position as a Behavioral Youth Counselor at one of our residential treatment programs with full salary, benefits, and responsibilities. But, in addition to working in that role, we offer added training, mentoring, and networking opportunities during the first 10 months on the job to help you discover personal and professional growth opportunities with Youth Villages. The program is available in Memphis, Tennessee or Linden, Tennessee.

We see the impact that our staff make on a daily basis. Most youth are referred to our residential care when they need a more intensive level of treatment and supervision than they can receive in their homes and communities. We also see that many youth referred to our programs have experienced significant trauma. So working with our youth requires not only a knowledge of youth development and counseling interventions. It requires patience while de-escalating a youth in crisis and consistency in setting limits with youth who may have trouble trusting adults. But this overall passion and hard work helping our youth grow and develop positive coping strategies pays off — last year more than 80% of youth we served were living at home, in school, and reported no trouble with the law.

If you graduated in December 2015 or will be graduating in May 2016 and have a passion for working with at-risk youth while growing personally and professionally, consider the YV 360 Program.

We are currently accepting applications until March 7, 2016.

Through opportunities to develop leadership and crisis intervention skills while building strong rapport with our youth, several YV 360 alumni are now making an impact as supervisors and program managers across our organization. Some of us developed training and communication skills and now work as recruiters to find quality staff to provide the best care for our youth. Others are taking advantage of Youth Villages’ tuition reimbursement and are pursuing their master’s degrees while getting experience working on our clinical team. Other alumni found a different population that they are passionate about. Whatever path you may choose, YV 360 is a great way to jump-start your career in the mental health field while connecting with other young professionals.
