Come join the Maria Montessori School as they host the 12th annual Regatta and Duck Race. This family-friendly event includes three different races; all of which are taking place in the Wolf River Harbor behind the school: a rubber duck race, a canoe and kayak race, and a wacky boat race and contest, in which families form teams to build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape.
The Maria Montessori School was founded in 1986 as a non-profit, non denominational school seeking to provide a unique scholastic experience to students 18 months to 14 years old
“The regatta is a highly anticipated event each year, as it really exudes what our school stands for while uniting Memphis citizens for a day in a very celebratory way,” said Maria Schuermann-Cole, headmistress of The Maria Montessori School. “The outdoors plays a crucial role in both our education curriculum and our students’ general well-being, and we look forward to bringing the two together again for the 12th consecutive year.”
Following the races, there are various activities to keep the fun going, such as live music, children’s games, grilled food, kayak and canoe rides, and take and make art projects.
